The Division of Laboratory Medicine provides medical direction for the clinical laboratories of St. Louis Children's Hospital (SLCH).  Its members are academic faculty of the Department of Pediatrics with knowledge and skills in various areas of clinical laboratory medicine.  Please see also the SLCH Clinical Laboratories web site.

Mission Statement

• Provide state-of-the-art, child-oriented laboratory testing for inpatients and outpatients at St. Louis Children's Hospital, serving as a resource for diagnosis, therapy and consultation.

• Participate in teaching and training in laboratory medicine and other related areas within the medical center.

• Foster an environment that encourages the directors and staff to participate in basic and applied research and in which the resources of the clinical laboratories are made available to facilitate research by other divisions within the department.

• Develop a critical mass of laboratory medicine professionals and progress towards recognition as a center of excellence in pediatric laboratory medicine.
